Update 1/26: The coroner’s office has released the identification of the victim as Roman Gonzalez, 48, Bessemer.Birmingham Police detectives are investigating a homicide in Ensley.The dispatch call was to the 1400 block of 27th Street Ensley, just after 7 pm Jan. 25.Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the BPD said a group of workers was doing renovations at a house when suspects forced their way into a door.Fitzgerald said the victim, a Hispanic man, was shot during a robbery.The victim was found on the stairs of the house and died at the scene. Police believe this crime could be linked to other cases targeting the Hispanic community last year.
