A BC provincial court judge didn’t mince words in dismissing a homeowner’s lawsuit alleging that the previous owners had fraudulently misrepresented latent electrical defects in the home. Manitoba seniors getting help for renovations that make it possible to stay in own homes

Some Manitoba seniors who want to age in their homes will now have access to funding to make that possible, the province said Thursday. The Manitoba government is developing a grant program to support home modifications that will allow them to stay in their own homes longer. Residents are warned about a home repair fraud operating in Halton. The scam involves contractors traveling door-to-door as they attempt to sell unrequested services to unsuspecting homeowners. Halton police are warning residents in the region about an ongoing home renovation scam. Officers say the fraud involves “contractors” traveling door-to-door to sell unsolicited services, such as chimney or driveway repair and stone work. The contractor will provide a quote under market value and once a deal is reached, they will ask for a large cash payment.
